Please let me introduce myself, my name is Andrew Bates and I am the owner / operator of Doors and Doorways Mandurah, I am a qualified carpenter and joiner with over thirty five years experience in the building industry.

I have operated a very successful door installation business in the northern suburbs for the past 25 years known as "Joondalup Doors"
We have now been in Halls head for seven years now and have built our five star rating business on honesty and recommendations.

DOUBLE DOOR INSTALLATION

This job is typical of the work that I do.
​
Clients wanted double doors installed to create an office as well as letting through as much available light to spill into the dark passageway so I suggested a glass transom above the double doors.
​
The glass supplied for the transom was 6.38 clear laminated safety glass as per Australian standards, any glass above a doorway must be safety glass.
FRONT DOORS THAT LAST THE TEST OF TIME
This is another aspect of my work where I replace the old frame and hinge the 1200mm door, I do not use a pivot system as they become problematic over time.

I undertake all the work myself which includes manufacturing the custom made frame, installation, glazing as well as staining,
My clients are pleased that they do not have to hire any other trade for the completion of their new entrance door.
INTERNAL DOOR INSTALLATION FOR SOUND PROOFING
This hallway ran past the TV room allowing the noise from the television to travel upstairs, by installing double interior doors and transom to the full height plaster opening it allowed the owners to watch television long after the children had gone to bed.
CUSTOM FRONT DOOR INSTALLATION
A bit of a story behind this one.
This beautiful custom made front door and side lite were made from American walnut and shipped all the way from the states by sea, I liaised with the joiner regarding the brick opening size in metric which he replied in feet and inches which left me scratching my head for a bit but we ended up on the same page and the job was completed.

The detail in this door is remarkable, unfortunately the glass had been in shattered in transit and was not an easy job to replace as the river pebbles were glued to the face of the glass.
ROLLER DOOR INSTALLATION FOR GARAGE SAFETY
This job was so gratifying to do, the owner was a pensioner who's car was broken into under the open carport, she had several quotes by various builders that were beyond her budget, I quoted her as I always do materials plus a day rate which came in at half of what she was originally quoted.

She was so grateful with the finished job she gave me a glowing write up which paid off in spades.
INTERIOR DOORS INSTALLATION & CLEAN UP JOB

The air conditioner installers informed the owner that they had no other alternative but to run the ducting through the master bedroom robe shelving in this two story home, they asked me if there was anything I could do to tidy up the mess.
​
As you can see the finished job exceeded the clients expectations.
GLASS & WOOD ENTRANCE DOOR INSTALLATION

This entry use to be double doors, the client wanted a jarrah look to match existing frames and doors within, I made the entry frame and had the door made from Red Merranti (which is a hard wood)
To have this made in prime jarrah would have added an extra 30% to the job.
​
The glass is Translucent laminated safety glass not frosted, this make the glass easy to clean and will not mark.
DOOR INSTALLATION FOR SECURITY AND LIGHT

This design allowed a great deal of light to enter the home without compromising privacy, the glass installed was 6.38mm laminated safety glass which cannot be seen through no matter how close you put your eye to the glass, in fact you can't even see shadows behind the glass.
​
I would suggest a view finder be fitted so you can see who is on the other side of the door.
